Young striker Caolan Lavery has returned from his loan spell with Plymouth to bolster Wednesday’s limited attacking options.
With Connor Wickham due to return to Sunderland at the end of the month, amidst continued rumours of a permanent move to Forest in the near future, Stuart Gray has decided to recall Lavery earlier than expected from his second loan period.
Lavery made eight appearances for Argyle, scoring in three of his last four outings, and could be pushing for a place in the Owls starting line-up in the near future – providing much-needed competition for Atdhe Nuhiu and Chris Maguire, to play alongside Wickham.
And the youngster’s return to Hillsborough also follows the news that Michail Antonio will miss Saturday’s televised home clash with Leeds after tweaking his knee in training. Antonio had been out for five weeks with a knee problem and made a brief appearance as a sub in the New Year’s Day home win over Blackpool.
