Late tests for six players as Owls chase long-awaited home win

Six players face late tests before Wednesday take on Oxford United at Hillsborough tomorrow as we continue that search for a first home win since New Year’s Day.

Yan Valery, Dominic Iorfa, Barry Bannan, Callum Paterson, Michael Smith and Olaf Kobacki are all under treatment and Danny Rohl told today’s press conference: “We have still five or six question marks, so there could be some surprises tomorrow – or maybe not.

“They’ll have treatments and then we’ll see what my medical team tell me what I have to do or not.”

One player who will be in the squad is young striker Charlie McNeill, Rohl confirming his inclusion for the visit of an Oxford side who are likely to include ex-Owl Will Vaulks in their midfield.

With our play-off hopes having disappeared after taking just two points from the last four games, Rohl is hoping for an upsurge in form in our run-in, saying: “I will take something from the games gone but in the next three weeks we have five more and we want to win as much as we can.

“I can see on the training ground today, it was lively, there was no feeling anything was off, it was really sharp and this is what I like.”

Oxford are still in danger of relegation, sitting just three points clear of the drop zone and also with five matches remaining.
