Chris Kirkland has penned a new deal with Wednesday … the news coming just hours after experienced keeper Keiren Westwood joined us from Premier League Sunderland.
Kirkland, last season’s London Owls Player of the Year, has signed a one-year contract at Hillsborough but the 31-year-old is likely to find himself being pressed all the way for a starting place following last night’s arrival of Westwood from the Stadium of Light.
Westwood, a Republic of Ireland international, has agreed a two-year contract at S6. He has made close to 300 senior appearances, the majority of these at Coventry and, at 29, should prove a real rival to Kirkland for the keeper’s jersey next season.
* What do you think of the Westwood signing and who else would you like to see joining Wednesday before next month’s kick off?
