Keeper set to step up for FA Cup challenge

Young keeper Pierce Charles is in line for his Wednesday first team debut in tomorrow night’s FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Coventry City.

On-loan Brighton goalie James Beadle is not available to play and boss Danny Rohl revealed today that Cameron Dawson is ruled out through injury.

This means that Charles, 18, will step up for his first senior game, having previously featured in pre-season friendlies and trained regularly with the first-team squad.

Röhl said: “Pierce has trained very well since I arrived and football can move fast. I was asked recently if he is going on loan, tomorrow he will play in our starting eleven.

“He is ready for the moment. He has high potential, has shown a lot and tomorrow it is a good opportunity for him and we go forward.”

With his main focus on our relegation fight, Rohl could also rest other first team regulars for the cup tie as we face Coventry for the second time in six days and in a third fixture since Boxing Day.
