Dave Jones has responded to reports linking Miguel Llera with a move away from the club.
Llera’s contract runs out at the end of the season and Jones said today that he had met recently with the player’s agent to talk through the situation and confirmed with him that the player was contracted to be at S6 until June.
Jones added that the club was going to speak with Llera about his future but now there are reports that 33-year-old Llera could be ready to hand in a transfer request.
The Owls boss said he felt the agent had “jumped the gun” and added: “He can’t go anywhere unless we say he can. We will decide if and where he goes – not the agent.”
Jones also criticised the agent for speaking out, saying: “This is a private matter and should stay that way.” He added that the club had not received any enquiries for Llera while his agent said there were several clubs interested in signing him.
