Jones pleased with point as Wednesday break duck

Leeds United

Dave Jones was pleased with Wednesday’s first point of the season in a 1-1 draw at Leeds today but felt we could have got all three.

Kamil Zayatte headed us in front on 36 minutes and the home side caused few problems until Ross McCormack levelled 13 minutes after the break as Wednesday began the second half in all too familiar lethargic fashion.

We had limited opportunities after the break but had claims for a penalty turned down when Leeds defender Jason Pearce blocked Jacques Maghoma’s close-range effort with his hand and Michail Antonio brougnt an excellent save out of Paddy Kenny.

Jones said: “It was a hard-fought point but we think we should have had all three. We had a sloppy start to the second half and it was a poor goal to give away.

“However, this is a difficult place to come to and if you had said beforehand we could have a point then we would probably have taken it.”

Lewis Buxton returned to the starting line-up after injury and Reda Johnson came on as a second-half substitute after a lengthy lay-off.
