Johnson to miss Charlton trip after three-match suspension

Marvin Johnson will miss tomorrow’s trip to Charlton after receiving a three-match ban from the FA this afternoon.

It follows an off-the-ball incident in the match at Ipswich earlier this month which led to the home side being awarded a penalty.

Johnson denied that his behaviour was improper and/or violent but an independent Regulatory Commission found the charge to be proven and imposed his suspension following a hearing.

As well as tomorrow’s match, Johnson will be banned for the Hillsborough clash with Peterborough on March 4 and then at Portsmouth on March 11.

Speaking at today’s press conference, prior to news of the suspension, Darren Moore said that defenders Aden Flint and Akin Famewo could be back in the starting line-up for tomorrow’s game, having been rested to the bench for last Saturday’s win over MK Dons.

We go into the match on top of division one, ahead of Plymouth on goal difference and with a game in hand on them. Ipswich are in third, trailing us by eight points and also having played a match more than Wednesday.

The squad will also be looking to set a new club record of 20 league games unbeaten tomorrow, having last week equalled the historic run of the 1960-61 Owls team on their way to finishing runners-up to the double-winning Spurs side in the top flight.
