Stuart Gray says he would love to keep Lewis McGugan once his loan spell runs out at Hillsborough.
The Owls have had talks with Watford about extending the loan period until the end of January and Gray said: “He’s been a huge plus for us. He’s got a range of passing and is a young man who can gives us energy and get up and down the pitch.”
Gray said the player is still not quite up to match fitness and is probably disappointed he hasn’t got on the scoresheet yet. However, referring to talk of Watford allowing McGugan to leave Vicarage Road on a permanent basis, Gray said: “Ideally, I would like him at Sheffield Wednesday – of course I would.”
But the head coach said that if McGugan becomes available for transfer then other clubs would probably join Wednesday in being interested in signing him.
