New signing Gary Hooper is hoping to make an early impact at Hillsborough after his loan signing this week.
Hooper has joined on loan until mid-January and, whilst acknowledging that he is unlikely to go straight into a winning line-up, he said: “I wouldn’t say I’m 100 per cent fit because I haven’t been playing games but I’ve been training nearly every day and I think I’m ready to play football.”
The striker almost joined Wednesday in August when Norwich team-mate Michael Turner signed on loan but Hooper says his move fell through because the Canaries said they needed to keep him at that time.
Asked if the loan could turn into a permanent deal in the new year, Hooper added: “If I’m not in Norwich’s plans at that time then we’ll talk about it – but at the moment I’m here until January 17 so we’ll go from now until then and hopefully I’m playing and scoring goals.”
