Henrik Pedersen was quite rightly full of praise for his limited Wednesday squad after our 2-2 home draw with play-off hopefuls Hull.

Having seen us lead twice and deserve at least the point we got, Pedersen reflected: “We had 13 under 21s in the squad today. We had talked about how important it is to be a team, to support each other and push each other. The whole game was fantastic for the boys.

“I think we started really well. In the first 30 minutes we were really dominant, defensively we were solid and compact and strong on the ball.”

Pedersen said Hull caused us some problems in the closing stages of the first half but added: “I felt the second half was equal. You have to remember they had won their last three games, are fourth in the league, a top team and we delivered a performance like that.

“I think it was a very deserved point. I hope everyone can see how hard we are working.

“There are a lot of things we can do better but a basic is the culture of how we are all working together with a big big hunger, discipline and belief in the team.

“We had six senior players today, plus keeper Ethan on the bench, with the rest under 21s.  A big respect to the young players who handled the situation but they can do this because they have strong senior players around them, who coach them, talk to them and make sure they stay with the game plan. It was great.

“The boys showed so much character and determination today. Last week we played the team in third and were in the game until 83 minutes, today we played the team in fourth and were in the whole game to the end.”

On the injury front, he said Max Lowe (calf) wis likely to be out for four to six weeks, George Brown (hamstring) probably for the same time while he is awaiting further updates on Charlie McNeill (ribs) and Ike Ugbo (hamstring).
