As expected, Henrik Pedersen has today been appointed the new Wednesday boss.

The 47-year-old Dane steps up from the assistant manager role with immediate effect and replaces Danny Rohl, who left the club earlier this week by mutual consent.

Pedersen, who joined us in October 2023 as assistant under Rohl, told the club website: “I am incredibly, incredibly proud to become manager of this wonderful football club.Since arriving in Sheffield with my family, the city immediately felt like our home.

“The people are what makes a city special, and the fans are what makes a football club special.

“So to be now staying in Sheffield and managing this club with its incredible supporters makes me very happy.

“This club has a fantastic history, one of the giants of English football and it is now my job to help get us back to the position we should be in.”

Pedersen spent six years within the Red Bull set-up, taking in spells with Red Bull Salzburg’s youth teams and Red Bull Ghana, and held a central role in forming a footballing philosophy for the entire Red Bull group. This successful period led him back home to the manager’s job at Danish side HB Køge, before going on to become assistant manager at Union Berlin in Germany and then managing Eintracht Braunschweig, Stromsgodset in Norway and Vendsyssel FF in Denmark.
