Gregory fitness boost ahead of play-off semi final

Lee Gregory is expected to return to the Wednesday squad for tomorrow night’s League One play-off semi final first leg at Peterborough.

Gregory missed the final game of the league season at home to Derby on Sunday after sustaining a facial injury in training but is likely to be in the 18 named for the Posh clash, albeit with a mask to protect the problem.

Darren Moore has indicated that the striker will be back while he confirmed that Michael Ihiekwe and Dennis Adeniran are also available after being rested for the Derby match.

Wednesday, who will be backed by 2,300-plus fans, go into the first leg on the back of four straight wins at the end of our league programme.

Moore said today: “Peterborough have had a good season getting into those play-offs. They’ve been persistent with their work since Darren Ferguson took over.

“They’re dangerous and have the leading goalscorer in the league in Clarke-Harris. We know the figures they’ve done this season – but we know the figures we’ve done, too.

“We know it will be a tough match but we’ve had 46 tough games as well and tomorrow night will be no different.”

The game is live on Sky Sports, kick off 8pm.
