Stuart Gray faces a striker selection poser in his first game as permanent head coach when he takes Wednesday to fellow strugglers Millwall tomorrow night.
It’s the first of two basement battles in five days for the Owls – with Barnsley at Hillsborough on Saturday – and Gray has to decide who to play up front against the Lions, with Connor Wickham having been called back to Sunderland from his S6 loan deal. Gray’s choices up front would appear to rest between Adthe Nuhiu, Chris Maguire and Caolan Lavery.
Joe Mattock is banned for one game after being sent off at Rochdale on Saturday and Jeremy Helan could be a straight replacement at left back, unless Reda Johnson is ready to return after a hip problem.
Chris Kirkland will be back in goal after being rested at Rochdale, to face Ian Holloway’s Millwall, who are expected to give debuts to loan striker DJ Campbell and midfielder Shaun Williams from MK Dons.
