Gray rues wrong decision … and costly slips

Stuart Gray was left rueing Wednesday’s early sloppy defending and frustrated at seeing Stevie May’s late effort wrongly ruled out for what would have been an equaliser against Bolton.

Gray said: “We’ve looked at Stevie May’s goal and he was onside. We’ve been punished by a poor decision.”

He added: “It’s disappointing because decisions like that are costly and we haven’t got the decision today. I’m told Neil Lennon agrees that Stevie was onside but that doesn’t make me feel any better because we have nothing from the game.”

Reflecting on the poor defending that gave Bolton an early 2-0 lead, Gray said:
“You can’t give a team like Bolton a two-goal start and we started very poorly. We got punished and that’s what will happen at this level.

“But credit to the players after that start, they had a right good go and we should have taken something from the game.”
