Stuart Gray looked back with pride at Wednesday’s 3-2 win at Middlesbrough … and his side’s unbeaten start to the season.
Two penalties for the home side in the closing 20 minutes, with the Owls leading 3-0, gave a false look to the scoreline and led to a late scare for Wednesday after we had bossed the game.
Gray said he felt a penalty was the only way Boro would get back into the match and, reflecting on the start to the season, he commented: “Considering it took us so long to win last season, it’s a great run.”
On today’s overall display, he said: “We scored three great goals, hit the post a couple of times and looked a very good side. I am pleased for the boys – it was a great win.”
Gray spoke of the “fantastic” team spirit and said his only disappointment in the performance – Wednesday’s first victory at the Riverside – was the final 10 minutes when he felt we allowed Boro back into the game.
