Gray looks to Premier League for new faces

Stuart Gray said today that he is looking to the Premier League to strengthen his squad … with a winger or striker his number one target.

The new owners have told Gray he can bring in loan signings between now and the ‘late season’ deadline and the head coach indicated that he is eyeing the Premier League for new recruits.

Gray added that he does not expect to make any signings before Saturday’s game at Derby but the situation could change in time for Tuesday’s trip to Millwall.

He said it is proving difficult to bring in loanees at present as clubs are reticent to release squad players because they are being hit by suspensions and injuries at this time of the season.

The head coach explained: “We are looking at the Premier League to get loan players because some of them are not getting much football. However, their managers have also got one eye on not leaving themselves short.”

Gray said he is searching for a winger or striker, in particular, and added that while he is happy to allow some of our current fringe players to go out on loan, there have been no enquiries so far.
