Four-goal Owls go through to next round of cup

Wednesday went through to the FA Cup fourth round after a 4-0 victory in our tie with Cardiff at Hillsborough this evening.
In a remarkable opening, Josh Windass fired us in front with a 25-yarder inside two minutes, only for Cardiff to then miss penalties in the fourth and seventh minutes.
Cameron Dawson saved both spot kicks, the first from Ryan Wintle after an Anthony Musaba foul and denying Callum Robinson following a challenge from Michael Ihiekwe.
We struck again twice in quick succession towards the end of the half, Ihiekwe’s dangerous flicked header going in off Romaine Sawyers and then Liam Palmer cracking home an excellent volley from 20 yards.
After the excitement of the first 45 minutes, the second half was an anti-climax.
Cardiff missed chances to get themselves back in the game while Wednesday rarely threatened to add to our goals tally until Mallik Wilks raced clear in added time and slotted past keeper Jak Alnwick from inside the box to seal a place in the fourth round draw.
Dawson, Valentin, Ihiekwe (Siqueira 82), Bernard, Famewo, Diaby (Shipston 61), Palmer, Gassama (James 61), Musaba (Wilks 46), Windass (Smith 73), Fletcher. Unused subs: Charles, Phuti, Johnson.
