Fletcher could start against Norwich

Steven Fletcher is back in contention for a starting place at Norwich on Saturday after suffering a head injury in the season opener with Villa.

Fletcher was forced off after just 26 minutes on Sunday following an aerial clash with Villa’s Tommy Elphick and he needed 10 stitches in the injury.

Carlos Carvalhal said: “He is training normal. He will have to wear some sort of protective headgear but he’s training.”

Glenn Loovens is also showing encouraging signs in his recovery from surgery on an ankle injury and Carvalhal believes he is not far away from a return to action.

Meanwhile, full back Joe Bennett’s expected move from Aston Villa fell through after their owner, Dr Tony Zia, decided he did not want to allow the player to join one of their Championship rivals,
