Fight against the drop goes on says Moore

Darren Moore says Wednesday’s fight to stay in the Championship goes on, despite another damaging defeat this evening.

The 2-0 reverse to Swansea keeps us seven points from safety, with only five matches remaining, but manager Moore said after the latest setback: “The maths and the numbers are still there. Everyone who knows me knows I will be looking to the three points against Bristol City on Saturday.

“We have got another home game here on Saturday and we have to go again. I won’t get detracted from thinking anything but that.

“While the numbers are still there, we will keep fighting.”

Reflecting on the Swansea performance, Moore said: “It was a game of small margins. We had a great chance to get our noses in front with Liam Shaw’s effort. They went up minutes later and got the goal and then they started to dominate possession.

“The game went away from us in the second half and they got the second goal and it gave us more of a mountain to climb.”

The Swansea game saw Moore return to the touchline after suffering from coronavirus but he revealed that coach Paul Williams is also now suffering from COVID-19.
