Wednesday go into tomorrow’s derby clash at Sheff U now knowing that we will be relegated if we fail to win the game.

A West Brom victory against Coventry today would have sent us into division one but the Baggies defeat means that will happen tomorrow if we don’t get all three points at Bramall Lane.

Keeper Seny Dieng, signed from Middlesbrough on an emergency loan following an injury to Murphy Cooper, will go straight into the side and there are also reports on the eve of the match that Olaf Kobacki will miss out through injury.

Defender Liam Cooper is expected to be in the Wednesday squad after coming on as a sub during the second half of last Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Millwall.

Dieng remarkably becomes our seventh keeper of the season, following in the footsteps of Pierce Charles, Ethan Horvath, Logan Stretch, Cooper, Joe Lumley and … Liam Palmer.

Keeper Cooper is likely to be out for up to four weeks. That means boss Henrik Pedersen can be expected to look to extend Dieng’s current stay at S6 and he will definitely play in the away game at Norwich next Wednesday, under EFL regulations which mean he must start all matches within the initial seven-day agreement.

On the plus-side, Pierce Charles continues to recover from his second shoulder injury of the season and Pedersen says he could return next month.

Tomorrow’s derby game is a noon kick off and is live on Sky Sports.
