Duo fit for selection for Preston clash

Sam Hutchinson and Glenn Loovens are back in contention for Saturday’s trip to Preston.

Hutchinson suffered a knee injury at Birmingham a fortnight ago while Loovens has been struggling with a groin problem but Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed that both are fit for consideration for the game, which will see Wednesday backed by a sellout following of more than 5600 fans.

With only keeper Joe Wildsmith ruled out through injury, that means Carvalhal has a selection headache of the right type in terms of who to leave out. He could be tempted to play Hutchinson, either as a central defender or in his more familiar holding midfield role.

We go into the match unbeaten in seven league games since the turn of the year and with five victories during that time, a run that has seen us move into fifth spot.

Leaders Hull are in FA Cup action tomorrow while second-placed Middlesbrough are without a game as scheduled opponents Reading are still in the cup. This means that victory at Preston would take us to within four points of the top of the table.
