Dele-Bashiru rescues point for Owls

A late goal from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru rescued Wednesday a point in a 1-1 draw at Cambridge this evening.

It was another largely uninspiring display from the Owls after falling behind in the 20th minute to George Williams’ flicked header at the near post.

Our only real threat of the first half came when Dele-Bashiru’s shot came back off the post while Lewis Wing fluffed his lines when through on goal.

We improved marginally after the break before Dele-Bashiru struck 10 minutes from time, firing across goal and into the far corner of the net.

The goal stirred us into late action and Liam Palmer’s header brought a tipover save out of keeper Dimitar Motov. However, we had to settle for a point and didn’t deserve any more on our overall performance.

The draw sees us slip to ninth place, two points adrift of the play-offs.
