Danny Rohl was left to reflect on a disappointing home draw on Wednesday evening.
After seeing the Owls go ahead twice against Bristol City, get pegged back on each occasion and then struggle to take a point Rohl said: “When you lead twice at home you want to win the game.
“We had a good first half but the second half was not good enough.
“We need to run more, to fight more for results. It’s a draw but no more and we were very passive in the second half.
“Normally we bring on players as impact subs who help give us fresh energy but the changes were not helpful to us today.”
Rohl said it was a difficult decision to sub Shea Charles at half time but he didn’t want to risk him getting a red card, after receiving a yellow in the first half.
He added on the likelihood that loanee Charles will now return to parent club Southampton: “Let’s see what we can do. Maybe this was not his last game for Sheffield Wednesday – that would be my wish.”
Man-of-the-match Djeidi Gassama was also withdrawn with 20 minutes left, Rohl explaining: “At half time today he said he was beginning to cramp and that’s why we subbed him during the second half.”
