Danny Rohl is looking forward to his first-ever Sheffield derby when Wednesday make the short trip to Sheff U for Sunday’s Championship clash.
Rohl, who confirmed Wednesday have no new injury problems for the game, said: “It’s a big one for the city and for the fans of both sides. We will fight to do everything on the pitch and I am sure our players will be on fire.”
He added: “When I took this job, I was looking for big games and to lead the group in such a match. I am looking forward to Sunday and want to enjoy these moments.
“I showed the players good clips from the Norwich game on Tuesday, our decision-making was fantastic and I want them to show this again on Sunday. It’s about sticking to the game plan.”
We go into the first fixture against our fierce rivals since season 2018-19 with only two defeats in the previous 10 derbies but with our last win at Bramall Lane five visits ago – back in February 2009 – when that stunning long-ranger from Marcus Tudgay clinched a memorable 2-1 victory and a first double over Sheff U in 95 years.
The match kicks off at 12.30pm on Sunday and is live on Sky Sports.
