Danny on pride for team … Bannan injury … VAR for Championship?

Danny Rohl said he felt sorry for his players after going down to a second late, late defeat in the space of seven days.

Speaking after the 2-1 Hillsborough defeat to Coventry, Rohl said: “We did everything but win the game today, we invested so much and I feel sorry for the players. I am proud of my team.

“I would not have been happy with one point but to get nothing is so hard to take. We had control, more possession, more shots, but we could not score the goal and we lost the game.”

Rohl talked of how the team really entertained the 28,000-plus crowd but that it is also about winning games, saying: “There are some parts of our game I am not happy with and where we can improve but today I saw a lot of good things and we deserved three points.”

He added: “The big difference between us and the top four is that they make less individual mistakes. Sometimes they might play not as much attacking football as us but they get the results through fewer mistakes.”

When asked about our three penalty appeals turned down today, Rohl said he had not seen them played back but suggested it might be time to consider introducing VAR to the Championship because of the the difficulty of making on-pitch decisions with the game played at such a pace.

On the injury front, he said he knew during the week that Barry Bannan would be fit to play against Coventry and that they will be monitoring his injury to see if there is any reaction ahead of the Burnley game next Friday night.

Meanwhile, Anthony Musaba resumed full training on Friday and should be back in the first team squad after more training sessions next week.
