Carvalhal: Now we focus on Brentford trip

Carlos Carvalhal has quickly turned his attentions to Saturday’s Championship trip to Brentford after the euphoria of last night’s Capital One Cup victory at Newcastle.

With the 1-0 win over Premier League opposition still fresh in the fans’ minds, plus a fourth round home tie with Arsenal to follow, Carvalhal said: “Today is a new day. We are happy but the game last night is in the past and we have a big match at Brentford on Saturday to prepare for.”

The head coach made 10 changes at Newcastle and he is likely to revert, by and large, to the side that beat Fulham last Saturday for this weekend’s trip to Griffin Park.

Sam Hutchinson could return to the starting line-up after missing the Fulham game through suspension but, that aside, it would be surprising if Carvalhal makes many, if any, other changes from the win over Kit Symons’ side.
