Carlos Carvalhal was disappointed not to leave the Riverside with at least a point after seeing Wednesday dominate the second-half at Middlesbrough.
The head coach said after the 1-0 defeat: “I am very disappointed because I think our players deserved something from the game.
“We played two days ago, we have had a lot of trouble with injuries – including one to Gary Hooper earlier today – and in these kind of conditions we expect to come down in the second half as the players tire … but it was the opposite for us.”
Carvalhal, who confirmed that he had yesterday agreed with Fernando Forestieri that he would only play 45 minutes, added: “We wanted to win and we tried to move players to win the game.”
