Carlos ponders Bannan replacement

Wednesday take on relegation-threatened Charlton at Hillsborough tomorrow without the suspended Barry Bannan in our midfield.

Bannan starts the first of his three-match ban after being sent off at Forest last weekend and Carlos Carvalhal has to decide who to draft in to replace the influential Scot.

Sam Hutchinson could be a straight replacement for Bannan after missing the Nottingham victory through illness, while Alex Lopez might be in contention for a starting place after returning recently on the bench.

Carvalhal has also rotated his full backs in recent weeks so we wait to see if Liam Palmer and Daniel Pudil keep their places, with Jack Hunt and Joe Bennett waiting on the sidelines, and whether the head coach sticks with playing two wideman in Ross Wallace and Aiden McGeady, as he did at Forest.

We go in to the game in sixth spot, a point ahead of Cardiff and Ipswich and four clear of Birmingham, who have a game in hand. Derby are two points ahead of us, with a further five points to fourth-placed Hull, who are at Middlesbrough tonight.

Tomorrow, Derby entertain rivals Forest in a lunchtime kick off, Ipswich are at home to Rotherham, Cardiff travel to Reading while Birmingham host Fulham. Second-placed Brighton are at MK Dons and leaders Burnley take on Wolves at Turf Moor.

Wednesday are expecting a bumper crowd for tomorrow, with the Leppings Lane lower tier open to home fans.
