Carlos Carvalhal reflected on Wednesday’s victory over Millwall – only our second in the last eight games – by saying: “It was important after the last couple of weeks to win. We started very well and played good football.
“I think we deserved to win. It is important the strikers scored goals. We are very happy Jordan scored.”
The head coach added: “Today the word for this game was win and this was most important. In future I believe we will play better and better and that individual performances will grow with the team.”
Carvalhal pointed out that the five changes made for the game were not because certain players did not deserve to be in the starting line-up, explaining that some needed to rest after slight injuries and that the size of the squad enabled this to happen.
He also said that Daniel Pudil could be in contention for a place against Villa on Saturday after missing the Millwall win with a hamstring problem picked up against Barnsley on Saturday.
