Callum Paterson has joined MK Dons this evening after Wednesday failed to agree a new contract with the player.
It’s another blow for Owls fans, Paterson continuing to train at S6 during pre-season despite his previous contract having run out.
The 30-year-old had become a fans’ favourite with many of the Hillsborough faithful, particularly in the latter years of his time at Wednesday, and he paid tribute this afternoon on social media to the supporters and club after his five-year stay.
Paterson wrote: “Sadly my time at Sheffield Wednesday has come to an end.
“I’ve loved every second of playing for this massive club and made so many memories that I’ll never forget, especially in the promotion season.
“I was privileged enough to wear the badge 186 times and it was always an honour to pull on that shirt whenever I got the opportunity.
“I would just like to thank all of the fans for making me feel at home in Sheffield for the last five seasons. Thank you to all of the backroom staff, the physios, the coaching staff and everyone else in between.
”You have all been amazing with me and I’ll forever appreciate it.
