Steve Bruce has brought in two of his former backroom staff to help with recruitment at Hillsborough.
David Downes and Dean Hughes have joined from his last club, Aston Villa, with Downes appointed as head of recruitment and Hughes as a recruitment analyst.
Bruce told the Sheffield Star: “I am absolutely delighted to have brought David and Dean in. Recruitment is a huge part of a football club and they will head up that department.”
Downes was Wigan’s head of recruitment before joining Villa in 2014 while Hughes was a performance analyst for two years at Villa Park and also worked under Bruce at Hull City.
The Owls boss made it clear when he took the job that recruiting players would be his decision and the appointment of Downes and Hughes underlines this policy.
