Jay Bothroyd has provoked immediate reaction from Wednesday fans on Twitter today after talking about the club, following his loan spell at Hillsborough earlier this season.
There were angry exchanges between player and supporters on the same social network site during his time at S6, with many fans unhappy at Bothroyd’s contribution.
Now the player has confirmed that he did not enjoy his time Wednesday and complained he was not played in his best position. This, in turn, has brought about more criticism of Bothroyd on Twitter.
Bothroyd, who says Dave Jones has a massive job on his hands, commented: “I went on loan there and, to be honest, I didn’t enjoy it all. I was playing out of position.”
He added: “Sheffield Wednesday are a League One club that got promoted – their fans need to understand that.
“As much as they have a lot of history in their club and have had some great players, the bottom line is they have come from League One and need to consolidate this season. That’s exactly what Dave Jones did at Cardiff.”
Bothroyd has played for both Wednesday and Cardiff and, looking at Saturday’s match between the two clubs at Hillsborough, he said: “I believe Cardiff will win.”
