David Moyes has asked for the 18-year-old to return to Goodison after skipper Phil Neville was ruled out for up to eight weeks following knee surgery.
Barkley was on a week-by-week loan arrangement with Wednesday after an initial one-month agreement. He made 13 appearances for us and scored four goals, growing in stature and increasing his influence on games as he settled into life in the Championship.
