A clutch of bidders have already voiced an interest in buying Wednesday … just days after the club went into administration.
Joint administrator, Kris Wigfield, told the BBC of the early interest and that the club could have new owners by the end of the year.
Under EFL rules, the club has to remain on the market for 28 days and Mr Wigfield said: “As always, you get a lot of interested parties that probably aren’t going to meet the criteria, but within the numerous inquiries we’ve had, we certainly think that there are already four or five interested parties that look like the real deal.”
Mr Wigfield also revealed that fans have already spent more than £500,000 on merchandise in the club shop and on tickets since former owner Dejphon Chansiri stepped aside on Friday, the joint administrator adding: “The response has been incredible but we need to keep raising money to be able to pay the wages next Friday.”
*In addition, the club has announced reduced pricing for tickets for the home game with Norwich on November 5, along with details of other forthcoming promotions. Full details are available on the club website, swfc.co.uk
