Wednesday will make wholesale changes for tomorrow night’s Capital One Cup third round trip to Newcastle.
With the tie being on a Wednesday, rather than the previous night, Carlos Carvalhal clearly has one eye on it being close to our Championship match at Brentford on Saturday, saying: “This is not a question of squad rotation but one of managing the health of the players.”
The head coach added that, with a big squad at his disposal, he will field a side able to give 100 per cent and while, at the same time, ensuring we will be fresh and ready for Saturday’s clash at Griffin Park.
Carvalhal confirmed that Lewis McGugan will definitely start the cup tie at Newcastle and that striker Sergiu Bus will be in the matchday squad. He is expected to also give starts to the likes of Liam Palmer, Jose Semedo, Jeremy Helan, Rhoys Wiggins, Glenn Loovens and Modou Sougou and said: “We trust in all our players and we will play with strong spirit and a strong team.”
