Promotion rivals win to cut our lead at the top

Wednesday’s lead at the top of division one was cut to one point this afternoon after Plymouth’s expected home win over bottom club Forest Green Rovers.

Our home draw with Bolton last night took us onto 78 points and second-placed Plymouth have moved onto 77 but we now have two games in hand on them again and a far superior goal difference.

Ipswich in third also had a 2-0 home victory, against Shrewsbury, and they sit three points behind us but also having played two more matches.

In-form Barnsley, our opponents at Oakwell on Tuesday night, cemented their place in fourth with a late winner in a 1-0 success at Wycombe, moving onto 69 points with two games in hand on both Plymouth and Ipswich.
