Paterson set for squad in ‘must-win’ match

Callum Paterson is ready to return as Wednesday desperately seek a first win in seven games against relegation-threatened Accrington at Hillsborough tomorrow.

Darren Moore has confirmed that Paterson will be in the squad after his long lay-off while we wait to see if Michael Smith has recovered from the thigh strain which kept him out of the draw at Oxford on Good Friday.

That disappointing point at Oxford saw us drop out of the top two automatic promotion places. Plymouth head the table on 83 points with second-placed Ipswich and ourselves on 81 but the other two have a game in hand and the Tractor Boys are ahead of us on goal difference.

With Wednesday having only six matches left, we go into the Accrington game knowing it is now really ‘must win’ to keep up those fading hopes of automatic promotion. Plymouth are at home to Lincoln tomorrow and Ipswich away to Cheltenham.
