Munoz on the performance … the fans … possible loan signing

Xisco Munoz was happy with Wednesday’s overall display in the 2-1 home defeat against Southampton on Friday night.

For large parts of the game the relegated Saints showed why they were two divisions above us last season but it was only a late goal from Che Adams that saw them take all three points.

Boss Munoz said after his first league match in charge of the Owls: “We were in the game for 87 minutes. We tried to follow our plan and I was very happy with the guys. This is the spirit I want and they worked very hard for 99 minutes.

“We played better in the second half, we lose today but the team is working very hard.”

On the atmosphere created by the fans, he said: “It was incredible. I say thank you for helping the team, this is our stadium and we will try our best for the fans.”

He added: “We need to improve some situations. Every day the players learn more about what we want together, what we want to improve. Right now we need more time and we need some more players.”

When asked about the possibility of AC Milan keeper Devis Vasquez joining the Owls on loan, Munoz said: “We will see if we have chance to bring him here.”
