Darren Moore reflected on the 1-1 draw with Bolton at Hillsborough as Wednesday failed to build on a great start in front of almost 30,000 fans.
Lee Gregory gave us the lead on 12 minutes and we threatened more goals in an aggressive opening, Moore saying: “We wanted to start the game well and we did so. The atmosphere was electric and I thank the supporters again for their fantastic backing. They really got behind the team.
“The one small critique would be that we created chances but we just got the wrong contact. But I’ve got great belief in these players.
“We got the goal and then got pegged back. I thought for a good hour it was both teams trading blows without giving much away and then it played out as a draw.”
Wednesday also lost three players to injury with Reece James, Josh Windass and Lee Gregory all being substituted.
Moore said Gregory was subbed as a precaution after taking a knock while James and Windass will be assessed further after both suffering ankle injuries. He added that George Byers could be 50-50 for Tuesday’s trip to Barnsley after missing the Bolton game with a hamstring problem.
