Darren Moore says he is pleased with Wednesday’s pre-season progress after this afternoon’s two-goal victory at Chester.
Following the second of our seven warm-up games, Moore said: “It was a real good workout. At this stage it’s about building the volume of games, the physicality of the players and their fitness capacities.
“The boys have come through a tough week, I worked them hard yesterday, harder than we normally would a day a before a game but it’s part of what I want them to achieve in pre-season.”
Massimo Luongo and Dominic Iorfa, two long-term injury absentees last season, were both missing from today’s squad but Moore explained: “Massimo is fine. He’s had a game already in pre-season and is looking really good. It’s just a case of managing him, he’ll be involved in the friendlies to come.
“Dom Iorfa has to hit certain levels in training, we don’t want to rush him back for the sake of seven days because we want him back for the season.”
Talking about new signing Dennis Adeniran, Moore said: “I’m really pleased to get Dennis here. I made it clear to him I wanted to bring him to Sheffield Wednesday.
“He will bring real energy and has good quality on the ball. He will be a wonderful addition.”
