Dave Jones has revealed that Welsh international Jason Koumas is to start training with Wednesday in the coming weeks.
Speaking at a fans’ forum at Hillsborough on Thursday evening, Jones confirmed that the midfielder, who is a free agent, will link up again with his former boss.
Koumas played under Jones at Cardiff, but the Owls manager was quick to point out that Koumas will only be training with the team at this stage.
Jones and Milan Mandaric held the question and answer session in front of a sellout 300-strong audience and here are some other highlights, as reported on Twitter …
Jones on signing Nile Ranger on loan and a possible attacking link-up with Gary Madine: “I wouldn’t have signed him if I didn’t think he could do a job. Listen, we may as well have two nutters rather than one!”
Jones on SWFC: “This is a massive football club. I didn’t realise how big it is. It’s phenomenal.”
Mandaric on the fans: “You guys are unbelievable. It’s you people who are recharging my batteries. I am committed and want to do a good job.”
On Huddersfield game: Mandaric says he will be asking Huddersfield for more tickets and, if none available, then consider a beamback to S6
Mandaric on Hillsborough: “There is a very big need to give a bit of a lift to the stadium. Right now we are looking at the scoreboard … investment is needed in a lot of areas … some things have been neglected but we need to prioritise and do things right.”
Mandaric on investment on the pitch: “When we need to spend the money then I will pay it.”
Jones on Jermaine Johnson: “The one thing defenders don’t like is pace. If we can get JJ into the right positions to use his pace then he’ll be great.”
Mandaric on promotion: “If we don’t make it this season I will be very disappointed. Dave Jones will be disappointed. You will be disappointed … if we didn’t make it then we will pick ourselves up, regroup and do our very best again.”
