Jos rules out signings in transfer window

Jos Luhukay has confirmed Wednesday won’t be signing any new players before the transfer window closes on August 9.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield’s ‘Fans’ Forum’ programme on Monday evening: “We are not speaking with any players before the start of the season or in the next days, so I go with this team and they have my trust.

“I work with them for seven months and my new players are the injured players who come back. We also have seven players from the under 23s who, for me, are players for the future for Wednesday.”

He said he realises that fans want new signings for the start of a season but that he also has to respect the situation at the club, adding: “I am happy with my squad and I give them the trust.”

However, Luhukay said that he was not in a position to answer the question when asked by a suppporter if Wednesday are under a transfer embargo.

With regard to the transfer window in general, the Owls boss said he believes it should close before the start of the season, to avoid clubs possibly losing key players just before the campaign kicks off and then being left with little time to find replacements.
