Head coach Carlos Carvalhal has spoken of why he decided to stay with Wednesday at the end of last season.
After a second successive disappointment at the play-off stages last May, many felt the head coach would leave the Owls after two seasons at S6 … either of his own accord or through a decision by the club.
Now he has explained that he made the decision to stay for another year, saying: “At the end of last season it was easy for me to leave Sheffield Wednesday. If I had left, I would have been leaving a situation like this … good football and fantastic performances.”
He continued: “I received some invitations to the Premier in my first year and a lot of invitations from the Championship last year when I was out of contract … some of the clubs with big budgets and a lot of money to spend.
“I decided to stay. Why did I decide to stay? Because I like the chairman, I like Sheffield Wednesday, I like my players and I don’t want to turn my back on Sheffield Wednesday. It was my decision.”
