Youngsters go through in FA Youth Cup

A first-half own goal by the Preston keeper saw Wednesday’s under-18s through to the FA Youth Cup fifth round after a 1-0 win at  Hillsborough this evening.

The decisive moment came five minutes from the break when keeper James Pradic could only push Leojo Davidson’s corner into his own net.

The visitors will also reflect on wasting good opportunities in both halves while Wednesday, who were often restricted to chances on the break, had to defend firmly and ride their luck in the closing stages to clinch their place in round five.

Wednesday’s duo of Josh Ashman and Davidson were booked following the final whistle, along with two of the Preston team, in a melee involving several players after the Owls youngsters had played for time from a corner and then a free kick in the closing seconds.
