Dave Jones has explained why Chris Kirkland was surprisingly dropped for the Huddersfield match.
Kirkland has been a model of consistency since joining us in 2012 and could hardly be blamed for our shocking start to this season.
However Jones left Kirkland out against the Terriers, with Arsenal loanee keeper Damian Martinez making his debut, and the manager said: “Chris has not been making the saves we need him to make and he has not kept a clean sheet this season.”
He added that he doesn’t leave players out if they are playing well.
