Westwood tweets photo of knee injury

Wednesday wait to see the extent of keeper Keiren Westwood’s knee injury which forced him off during the first half at Burton.

Westwood was left grounded by the challenge from Burton striker Marvin Sordell, the home side’s frontman escaping punishment after catching the Owls keeper as he cleared the ball.

Westwood received lengthy treatment and then played on for a few minutes before being forced off the field.

He left the ground with the injury strapped up and later displayed the extent of the problem in a photograph, as shown here, and tweeted: “Think I’m lucky I ride the challenge. Would hate to think what might have happened. Pls god it’s just bruising an no ligament damage.”

Carlos Carvalhal said: “We will have to assess the situation because I did not see the doctor yet.

“I am not happy because I think the challenge was a red card. I do not say it was deliberate but it was late but we must respect the decision of the referee.”
