’We should have got something’

Garry Monk said Wednesday missed the presence of injured Steven Fletcher for Tuesday night’s defeat at Hull.

Monk explained that Fletcher suffered an ankle injury at Middlesbrough on Saturday  but should be fit to return at home to Wigan on Saturday.

Reflecting on the defeat, the manager said he felt we were unfortunate to take nothing from the game and added: “Good teams respond and that’s what we want to see against Wigan on Saturday.”

Referring to a second-half foul on Jacob Murphy by Eric Lichaj, which was given outside the box, Monk said: “It was a clear-cut penalty and I don’t need to see it again.”

Hull boss, Grant McCann, was also reported to have said it should have been a penalty.

Sam Hutchinson will miss the Wigan game on Saturday after his fifth booking of the season at Hull.
