‘We got our just reward’

Darren Moore praised his Wednesday squad for battling all the way to earn another three points in our play-off chase.

Speaking after Lee Gregory’s injury-time winner against AFC Wimbledon lifted us to fifth place, Moore said: “Credit to the players because they kept going all the way to the end and found a way to win.

“Wimbledon came here and made it difficult but they were always going to do that because the finishing line is in sight and teams know what they have to do. They had the new manager bounce as well so this was never going to be an easy game.

“We have given everything and I think we got what we deserved.”

Moore also praised Bailey Peacock-Farrell for his crucial late save to keep the score at 1-1, saying: “There was a crucial moment in the game where we knocked a square pass and they broke up the pitch.

”Bailey pulled off a great save. That re-energised everyone in the ground and it gave us that focus.

”At the end, I moved Marvin Johnson to left centre back and Mide out wide. More attacking players to go and win the game.

“I put Pato in the box and he would be the one to get on the end of it. His header back across the goal was vital for Lee Gregory and the boys got their just reward.”
