Wednesday’s under-18s bowed out of the FA Youth Cup in a 4-0 defeat by Chelsea at a rain-soaked Aldershot ground.
They found themselves two-down at half time and Chelsea underlined their superiority with two further goals after the break, the fourth coming deep into injury time.
Wednesday failed to force a save out of the Chelsea keeper and their only real threat came from a George Hirst header in added time that was deflected wide for a oorner.
The home side were superior in all departments, were physically much the stronger outfit and Wednesday could have no complaints about the final scoreline in this fifth round tie.
