Triple injury boost as Owls travel to Lincoln

George Byers is fit to return to the Wednesday starting line-up at Lincoln tomorrow.

Darren Moore confirmed the news in his press conference today after the midfielder was left out of the midweek line-up against Burton as a precautionary measure.

In addition, long-term injury absentees Lee Gregory and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will both be back in the squad for the Lincoln game as we look for an eighth win in nine outings to further consolidate our position in the top six.

Lincoln are in 18th in the table, five points clear of the relegation positions.

We go into the match in fifth place on 61 points, one behind fourth-placed Oxford who entertain Burton tomorrow, and with two games in hand on them.

MK Dons, who sit in third on 66 points but having played one more match than us, travel to leaders Rotherham tomorrow while second-placed Wigan, at home to AFC Wimbledon, are eight points clear of Wednesday and with a game in hand.

Sunderland are immediately below us, two points adrift and having played an extra game, with Wycombe a further point and place behind and, like the Black Cats, on 35 matches played.

Wycombe travel to Crewe tomorrow while Sunderland are at Charlton.

Manager Moore also confirmed today that former Wednesday player, Wayne Jacobs, has joined the backroom team.

Moore said: “It is like a part-time role with the club. He comes in three days a week and works on the team’s dynamics.

“He is very well rehearsed on what we do here and I am really grateful for his support.

“He is working alongside Jamie Smith as an assistant. Jamie is more pitch-based in the daytime. Wayne works more on the off-the-pitch tactics and both play significant roles in the structure.”
